Looking to build a test block then I can put the car on it and brand sure it's running OK, break-in the motor, etc. I can get a 12 volt power supply to ability it but I wanted to brand sure I had the right amount of amps.

Cheers,

Josh

Josh,

You lot're going to have to define "typical" for you.

Typical C-tin can or D-tin motor every bit used in 1/24 commercial raceways?

Typical mini moor used in 1/32 Europlastic cars?

Typical strap or can motor used in fly car racing?

Without whatsoever additional info, 5 amps ought to piece of work for about everything except the loftier end C-tin can and strap motors. For one/32 cars, 2 or iii amps should suffice.

My swimming pool motor draws twenty amps at 220 volts.
My TSR motor in my Retro pile draws 0.eight amp at 12 volts, and 0.38 amp at 3 volts.
My Pro Slot 4002 X12 RetroPro motors draw between 2.8 to 4.three amps (no thought why there is such a discrepancy as they become the same speed...) at 3 volts.
A TSRF T3215 home-racing motor draws i/2 amp at six volts.

My F5b Hotliner motor draws 300 amps at 22 volts and climbs out of sight in 4 seconds. :)

Typically, if whatever slot auto motor draws more than 5 Amps at 5 Volts under no-load conditions, there's something wrong. Even my G7 motors from the '80s drew no more than iv.five Amps.

But you lot want to go overkill with the power supply you choose. I recommend a capacity of vii-10 Amps.

A cheap mode to go is an quondam PC power supply. It may not be variable, but you often accept outputs of 3V, 5V, & 12V, with adequate amperage from each output.

Philippe,

I'd be leary of swimming while the pond pool motor is running. 220 volts won't injure a thing, 20 amps will roast your bones.

It would exist best to motility the motor to a location OUT of the pool.

As you can imagine, the amp draw is all over the place. And what is a typical motor?

At vi volts, no load on the motor, a Falcon seven, Hawk 7, and TSR draw about 0.3 to 0.6 amps. My Pro Slot PDs describe from 2.five to 4.v amps. My Pro Slot S16Ds which I race in Florida'south My Series races depict about 4.five to 6.0 amps.

I never got what I considered good results from amp describe. In therory the more amps, the more than current, the more than power. But.

At some point how efficient a motor is probably has an effect. A Super 16C pulls almost four amps, a Falcon 7 about 1, but a Super sixteen is merely a niggling faster on the runway.

They have it from Kinda Course to Super Fine. I asked for what would piece of work on medium soft brass the all-time and got it. I don't call up which one it was and the box is long gone..Likewise got .007 thick Dremil type discs. Simply a piddling besides thin.. :dash2:
